Requests for extensions on mine clearance deadlinesThe Eighteenth Meeting of the States Parties (18MSP) considered requests for extensions of deadlines for the destruction of anti-personnel mines in mined areas in accordance with Article 5 which were submitted by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, South Sudan and Ukraine.
ISU audited financial statement and preliminary report on activities and financesIn accordance with the “Directive from the States Parties to the ISU” adopted by the 10MSP, the Implementation Support Unit introduced the ISU’s 2020 interim narrative and financial report and the ISU’s 2019 audited financial statement. The 18MSP approved the report, as well as the ISU’s 2019 audited financial statement.
In accordance with the "Directive from the States Parties to the ISU” adopted by the 10MSP and the decisions of the 14MSP, the ISU Director presented a work plan and a budget for the activities of the ISU in 2021 for adoption by the 18MSP. The 18MSP adopted the ISU Work Plan and Budget 2021. Intersessional meetings 2021The 18MSP agreed that the 2021 intersessional meetings take place on 22-24 June 2021.
The 18MSP agreed on eight States Parties serving a two-year term as new Committee members, starting at the end of the 18MSP for the Convention's four Committees. With this proposal agreed to by the 18MSP, the following eight new States Parties started their two-year membership term at the end of the 18MSP: • Committee on Victim Assistance: Algeria and Ecuador; • Committee on Article 5 Implementation: Belgium and Sri Lanka; • Committee on the Enhancement of Cooperation and Assistance: Japan and Sudan; • Committee on Cooperative Compliance: Chile and Spain.
The new Committee members joined the following States Parties which will complete the second year of their two-year term between the end of the 18MSP and the end of the 19MSP: • Committee on Victim Assistance: Sweden and Thailand; • Committee on Article 5 Implementation: Norway and Zambia; • Committee on the Enhancement of Cooperation and Assistance: Colombia and Germany; • Committee on Cooperative Compliance: Panama and Poland.
Nineteenth Meeting of the States Parties (19MSP) The Fourth Review Conference agreed to hold the Nineteenth Meeting of the States Parties in the Netherlands in 2021. The Fourth Review Conference also adopted costs estimates for the 19MSP. The 18MSP agreed on the location of the 19MSP and that it takes place on 29 November - 3 December 2021. Twentieth Meeting of the States Parties (20MSP)The 18MSP adopted cost estimates for the 20MSP.
