Global Conference on Assistance to

Victims of Anti-Personnel Mines

and Other Explosive Remnants of War, and Disability Rights

10-12 September, InterContinental Amman, Jordan

 

Sponsored by the European Union, Fostering Partnerships provided 200 national disability rights and victim assistance experts, decision makers and persons with disabilities including mine survivors, with opportunities to further explore challenges and good practices in aligning victim assistance efforts with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the context of EU Council Decision 2017/1428, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with support of the European Union and the technical and logistical backing of the Implementation Support Unit (ISU) convened the Conference.

Fostering Partnerships built upon previous efforts to enhance cooperation among victim assistance, disability, human rights and development actors to meet the needs and rights of mine victims in wider disability rights contexts. The Chair's Summary contains a rundown of the sessions, and a set of conclusions and recommendations stemming from this truly global conference.
