On 25 February 2020, Sudan, in its capacity as President of the Eighteenth Meeting of the States Parties (18MSP), held the fifth Pledging Conference for the implementation of the Convention with the aim of committing resources to the ISU 2020 work plan, the Convention's Sponsorship Programme and the costs of the Meetings of the States Parties.

The Conference was chaired by H.E. Osman Abufatima Adam Mohammed, Deputy Permanent Representative of Sudan to the United Nations in Geneva and inaugurated by H.E. Omer Gamareldin Ismail, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sudan.
