Geneva - The Convention's President, H.E. Osman Abufatima Adam Mohammed, Deputy Permanent Representative the Sudan invites all interested parties to an informal meeting in preparation for the Eighteenth Meeting of the States Parties (18MSP). The informal meeting will take place on Friday 18 September from 10:00-13:00 at the Council Chamber, of the Palais des Nations at the UN in Geneva, and its main focus is to discuss the formal meeting that will take place 16-20 November in hybrid mode from Geneva. Due to the ongoing response to the global pandemic, participation in-person in the informal meeting will be limited to the capacity of the Council Chamber taking into account social distancing measures. Delegations wanting to attend in person, must register beforehand on the UN's Indico platform here. The programme for the day includes the presentation of the 18MSP Provisional Programme of Work including of the hybrid session. A proposal for Committees' membership will also be submitted during the informal meeting. The host country (Switzerland), the 18MSP Executive Secretary (UNODA) and the ISU will provide a variety of updates on matters such as the opening ceremony, financial situation, documentation, side events, and administrative matters.
