Geneva, Switzerland — On 7 February, the Convention's President, H.E. Thomas Hanojczi, Ambassador of Austria to the UN in Geneva, led the first panel of the 20th Meeting of National Mine Action Directors and United Nations Advisers, at the UN in Geneva. The panel centered on challenges and progress in international humanitarian law, and was carried out in conjunction with Khaled Rashed, General Director of Mine Action, Iraq, as well the Convention's civil society partners represented by Megan Burke, Director of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines and Kathleen Lawand, of the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC. Ambassador Hanojczi also extended an invitation to all States and relevant international and non-governmental organizations to attend the Sixteenth Meeting of the States Parties which will take place at the United Nations in Vienna, Austria, from 18-22 December 2017.
