Agenda Item # 11(e)(iv): Consideration of the general status and operation of the Convention:  Other matters essential for achieving the Convention’s aims – Implementation Support

Argentina, as the Co-Chair of the Standing Committee on the General Status and Operation of the Convention, introduced this item.  The Director of the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining then presented a report on the functioning of the Implementation Support Unit, followed by a few words from the ISU Manager, Kerry Brinkert.  As Coordinator of the Sponsorship Programme, the United Kingdom provided an update on the progress of the programme.

Agenda Item #16: Date, duration and location of the next Meeting of the States Parties

The Meeting agreed to designate His Excellency, Ambassador Jurg Streuli of Switzerland President of the Ninth Meeting of the States Parties and decided to hold the Ninth Meeting in Geneva the week of 24-28 November 2008.  Related to this decision, Switzerland took the floor:

The President informed the meeting that he had not been informed of any other business for consideration by the Meeting.
