I. General AspectsThis meeting should be an important ground-clearing exercise that would identify key issues which the mine action community should address over the course of our work. Three main baskets of items that should be addressed are: 1. An analysis of the progress achieved thus far within each standing committee of experts and a review, in general terms, of the intersessional work program to date 2. Issues related to the general status and operation of the Convention, including the experience to date with the Article 7 reporting process, a discussion of matters pertaining to some of the articles (e.g., Articles 3, 5 and 9) covered by Article 7 reports, and a discussion of matters pertaining to other Articles (e.g., Articles 2, 6 and 8). 3. Substantive and administrative preparatory work related to the Second Meeting of the States Parties (SMSP). In particular, attempting to achieve consensus on key matters that will permit preparations for the SMSP to proceed in a timely manner. II.
