South Sudan National Victim Assistance Dialogue

South Sudan is one of 30 States Parties which has reported having responsibility for significant numbers of landmine survivors. As such, in the context of the European Union Council Decision 2017/1428, South Sudan, with technical backing of the Convention's Implementation Support Unit (ISU) carried out a National Victim Assistance and Disability Stakeholder Dialogue from 17-19 July 2019 at the Crown Hotel in Juba, under the banner " Meeting the Needs of Mine Victims".

Over 50 participants representing relevant ministries including the President's Office, the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Welfare and the National Mine Action Authority (NMAA), and a dozen of representative of mine survivors and persons with disabilities organisations participated.

South Sudan has taken advantage of follow up support and is currently undertaking consultations with partners including some that participated in the Dialogue.
