Requests for extensions on mine clearance deadlinesThe meeting considered requests for extensions of deadlines for the destruction of anti-personnel mines in mined areas in accordance with Article 5 which were submitted by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Serbia, Sudan, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
ISU audited financial statement and preliminary report on activities and financesIn accordance with the “Directive from the States Parties to the ISU” adopted by the 10MSP, the Implementation Support Unit introduced the ISU’s 2018 interim narrative and financial report and the ISU’s 2017 audited financial statement. The 17MSP approved the report, as well as the ISU’s 2017 audited financial statement.
In accordance with the "Directive from the States Parties to the ISU” adopted by the 10MSP and the decisions of the 14MSP, the ISU Director presented a work plan and a budget for the activities of the ISU in 2019 for adoption by the 17MSP. The 17MSP adopted the ISU Work Plan and Budget 2019.
Intersessional meetings 2019The 17MSP agreed that the 2019 intersessional meetings will take place on 22-24 May 2019.
The 17MSP agreed on eight States Parties serving a two-year term as new Committee members, starting at the end of the 17MSP for the Convention's four Commmittees. The new Committee members will join the following States Parties which will complete the second year of their two-year term between the end of the 17MSP and the end of the Fourth Review Conference: • Committee on Article 5 Implementation: Colombia and the Netherlands; • Committee on Cooperative Compliance: Poland and Zambia; • Committee on Victim Assistance: Belgium and Mozambique; • Committee on the Enhancement of Cooperation and Assistance: Sweden and Thailand.
The 17MSP agreed to hold the Fourth Review Conferencein Oslo, Norway, the week of 25 November 2019 and elected H.E. Hans Brattskar, Ambassador of Norway to Switzerland and the United Nations in Geneva, President of the Fourth Review Conference. The meeting also adopted cost estimates for the Fourth Review Conference. |
